
Smart Orthodontics: An Orthodontics Monitoring System using SIFT Algorithm with YOLOv8
This study presents an AI-powered system designed to make orthodontic evaluations easier, faster, and more reliable. Using advanced tools like the SIFT Algorithm, YOLOv8, and Minimum Euclidean Distance (MDE), the system can detect and analyze dental structures with precision. It measures tooth alignment and spacing, giving orthodontists a clearer picture of patient progress while minimizing the subjectivity and time demands of traditional methods. The system also suggests suitable elastics based on detected gaps, helping guide treatment decisions. By simplifying and standardizing evaluations, this approach supports orthodontists in providing efficient, accurate, and consistent care—without replacing their expertise or diagnosing broader oral health issues.
